We manufacture our gauges using only the highest quality material guaranteeing maximum wear life and our gauging surfaces are heat treated which provides an extra wear factor. Gauges consist of nickel plated hardened tool steel or heat treatable 400 series stainless steel resulting in up to 10 times greater life expectancy over other gauges manufactured with ordinary and lower quality materials.

Long Form Certification for Railroad Gauges

• Long Form Certification certifies the actual measurement of all specific critical dimensions and critical characteristics for a particular railroad gage
• One railroad gauge per Long Form Certification
• This certification also provides certification of N.I.S.T trace-ability

The certification document prepared for these items includes the following:

• Name and address of organization providing the certification
• Customer name (company and or person) and company address
• Control number, unique to the railroad gauge
• Description of the gauge
• Description of measurement and test equipment used to perform calibration certification date
• Gauge certification date
• Calibration interval (if desired by customer)
• Identification of calibration procedure/method used
• Assigned certification value(s) and critical characteristics when applicable
• Certification uncertainty or reference to specification, drawing, or other document specifying tolerance limits
• Applicable corrections
• Special use limitations or certifications status, when applicable
• Identification of person performing calibration/certification
• Identification of person authorized to review and approve validity of certification

Re-Certification

Worn gauges are often found to be out of tolerance.  We must first inspect the gauge to determine what action will need to be taken and there will be a charge for this inspection service.  When a gauge is found to be out of tolerance the customer is notified and the gauge is returned with the inspection report however the gauge will not be re-certified.  When it is determined that a gauge can be repaired, the customer is notified and a quote is provided for an estimated cost of the repair along with certification. If the customer chooses not to repair the gauge or it is deemed too costly to repair we return the gauge to the customer with an inspection report. A quotes to purchase a new, replacement gauge is provided at the customers request in such situations.
